Project 2: Quadcopter Control Using a Kinect Sensor

Human Machine Interfaces are ubiquitous and ranges from SmartPhones, vending machines, to cars. The design of interfaces is an important enabler for correct operation as well as a pleasant experience for the user. In this project, the goal has been to integrate a UAV simulation environment and a Kinect sensor, yielding a HMI for UAV control. The user uses hand gestures to control the UAV and recieves feedback from observing the UAVs motion and behavior. Evaluations shows that the system is perceived as intuitive and easy to grasp and after a few minutes of training most users were able to maneuver the UAV around obstacles.
